How to stand up against people who put you down! ♥

So here’s a little secret of mine… There hasn’t been one day in my life since I turned 10 when I haven’t been insulted by my mother… And this ranges from the completely insignificant such as ‘You’re lazy’ to things such as ‘I wish you had never been born, you’re a complete waste of space and you’d be better of dead’… Yes, it’s hurtful. Especially when it comes from someone who you trust and believe should love you unconditionally…

Yet, I’ve learnt that the best way to not let these things scar you is to talk to someone you trust and ask for an honest opinion. Tell them what’s being said about you and tell them it’s making you feel insecure, then ask them for their honest opinion about you and then, most importantly - believe them! I am extremely guilty of not having done this, but this honestly won’t help you if you question what they say to you!

So have some confidence in yourself and believe them when they say you’re amazing. Then the next time someone tries to put you down, before you let it hurt you, remember what your friend said to you, remember that what they said was true, and dismiss the hurtful words being spoken.

Fighting back will only worsen the situation so as they say, it’s best to be quietly confident! Quite simply, believe in yourself :)

Stay strong my lovelies!! ♥ xx

A way to combat cutting ♥

Here’s a little thing you lovelies can do if you ever feel the urge to cut…

When you get the urge, instead of picking up the razor, pick up a marker pen and draw on your wrist a butterfly or the name of a person/thing in your life that you don’t want to lose…

The butterfly is something so innocent, that cutting through it would feel like destroying something so pure. And well, the name of the person you don’t want to lose explains itself :) Would you really carry on knowing that you would be hurting them so much??

Try this whenever it happens, and it should eventually become an automatic reaction without having to draw :)

Remember cutting will never solves your problems my lovelies - be strong and fight against the depression instead of giving in! ♥ xx
