I think this is a really powerful image about how many of us see ourselves these days… It’s just so distorted!
It seems we’re never completely satisfied with who we are. When we get to where we want to be, we’re still wanting more… And when this comes to weight and beauty it can have disastrous consequences. So many girls are affected by anorexia and bulimia and there is absolutely no reason for it. You are all incredibly incredibly beautiful people! ♥ It’s time we started seeing ourselves clearly for who we really are - amazing and beautiful no matter what we look like :)
Love yourself and be proud of your body! If you’re healthy and well, accept yourself for who you are and flaunt what you have. If you’ve got to the stage where your weight makes you unhealthy, do whatever you can to get back to being healthy and be proud of yourself for achieveing that! Chubby does not IN ANY WAY mean ugly or unhealthy, and skinny does not always mean gorgeous and healthy my lovelies! Like anything out there, if it becomes too extreme it can have horrible health consequences in the future…
I promise you that someone out there thinks that you’re the most beautiful girl in the world :) Believe in yourself and be confident and happy with who you are!
Remember that you are all beautiful my lovelies! Stay strong and don’t let anyone get you down! ♥ xx

This is a short video for Dove’s Real Beauty Campaign. It’s a real eye-opener to women all over the world who aspire to achieve the ‘perfection’ that we see in models and celebrities…

One of the biggest issues with girls all over the world is makeup and beauty. We’re obssessed with looking flawless with bright eyes, flowing hair and pouty lips. We love the idea of looking ‘perfect’. And it doesn’t help that the ever-growing celebrity culture seems to produce more and more of these ‘perfect’ women on a daily basis.

The actresses, singers and models we see and look up to all seem to be stunning beyond belief and it’s every girl’s wish to want to be able to look like them…

But in our hastiness, it seems we’re really starting to forget what real beauty is. Do we ever see these so called perfect women at home, without makeup, away from the spotlight?? Do we see them in their natural state without having spent hours and hours with a stylist working on their hair?? No, and the truth is we never will. We have to remember that the celebrities we see today are almost engineered to look perfect. It’s what draws us in to the celebrity culture…

If all our favourite actresses walked around LA in trackies with no makeup on whatsoever and their hair tied up in a bun, would they be as half as appealing to us as they are now?? But the thing is we’re now so used to seeing these women all over the covers of magazines labelled ‘The World’s Sexiest Women’, we’re used to hearing our guy friends talk about how ‘fit’ or ‘hot’ they are, that it’s sparked our desire to want to be them…

But tons of makeup and chemicals sprayed onto our hair will never ever ever portray who we are. At the end of the day we’re going have to take it all off and reveal what’s underneath all those layers of foundation and mascara. And if we’re not happy with what we see then, we’ll never accept who we truly are. We’ll never be confident in our own skin and we’ll have trouble letting people into our lives… And why does it have to be this way??

It’s heartbreaking to see so many beautiful girls hidden away under a makeup mask! EMBRACE YOURSELVES!!! Walk out without any makeup on one day and think to yourself, ‘I am beautiful, this is the real me, take me as I am or leave me!’ I assure you this self-confidence is 1000 times more sexy than layers of makeup. Letting people know that you love yourself and that you’re accepting and enjoying your natural beauty is so much more of an invitation than knowing a girl is hiding who she really is!

Don’t you think it’s scary to think that some of your friends may have never seen what you really look like because you’ve never ventured out without makeup?? Trust me my lovelies, it doesn’t have to be this way! You are beautiful whether or not it’s society’s typical idea of beauty! You never have to hide the real you away from the world!! If someone decides they don’t like the way you look, forget them, it’s their loss :) To someone out there, you are the most beautiful girl in the world without having to make any effort!!

Love yourselves!! YOU. ARE. BEAUTIFUL!!! ♥ xx

How to stand up against people who put you down! ♥

So here’s a little secret of mine… There hasn’t been one day in my life since I turned 10 when I haven’t been insulted by my mother… And this ranges from the completely insignificant such as ‘You’re lazy’ to things such as ‘I wish you had never been born, you’re a complete waste of space and you’d be better of dead’… Yes, it’s hurtful. Especially when it comes from someone who you trust and believe should love you unconditionally…

Yet, I’ve learnt that the best way to not let these things scar you is to talk to someone you trust and ask for an honest opinion. Tell them what’s being said about you and tell them it’s making you feel insecure, then ask them for their honest opinion about you and then, most importantly - believe them! I am extremely guilty of not having done this, but this honestly won’t help you if you question what they say to you!

So have some confidence in yourself and believe them when they say you’re amazing. Then the next time someone tries to put you down, before you let it hurt you, remember what your friend said to you, remember that what they said was true, and dismiss the hurtful words being spoken.

Fighting back will only worsen the situation so as they say, it’s best to be quietly confident! Quite simply, believe in yourself :)

Stay strong my lovelies!! ♥ xx
